Parents' Night Out! Babysitting for children 2 to 12 years of age in the youth center. Includes games, movies and crafts.
Y-Members: $10.00 for 1st child /NM: $20.00 for 1st child; $5.00 each additional child. Bring snacks/dinner, and any item to make your child comfortable (e.g. a pillow, favorite blanket or toy). Summer Day Camp Registration is open for our 2010 day camp program! Kids will have a blast this summer swimming, playing in the gym, doing arts and crafts, gymnastics, playing at the city park, taking field trips and more! The camp is comprised on 9 one-week camps that all have a unique theme. Kids are separated into two age groups: 5 to 8 and 9 to 12. Parents can register their children for one or more of the 9 weeks on either a full-time (5 days a week) or part-time (4 days or less) basis. Camp runs daily (Monday-Friday) from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Register and pay by April 30th to receive an early bird discount! Weekly Themes: Week 2: Nature/Recycling (Week of 6/21) Campers will enjoy an amazing outdoor adventure as they discover the wonders of Mother Nature. They will also learn about the importance of recycling and will make crafts with recycled materials. The week will end with a field trip to a game reserve. Week 3: 4th of July Celebration (Week of 6/28) Campers will enjoy many patriotic crafts and games to celebrate the freedom of our country. The week will end at the City Park for a family cook-out. Week 4: Space & Science (Week of 7/5) Campers will participate in safe "at home" science experiments during this week! Wednesday we will enjoy a trip to Greenbank Observatory for a tour and an opportunity to meet an astronomer. Week 5: Sports & Safety (Week of 7/12) The campers will enjoy fundamental workshops in soccer, basketball, swimming, football, and dance brought to them by our talented staff. We will also be visited by representatives from the Elkins Fire Department, Elkins City Police, and other agencies of our community that help keep us safe. Week 6: YMCA Kids "Got Talent" (Week of 7/19) Every camper will get the chance to be a star this week! Campers will have the opportunity to show off their talents in singing, dancing, poetry, acting, etc! Family members of finalists will be invited to cheer on their campers at an end-of-week talent show! Week 7: Olympics/Spirit (Week of 7/26) Campers will compete in various events as part of the YMCA Olympics. Scores will be tallied throughout the week from various events and the winning team will be recognized in our end-of-week ceremonies! Week 8: Super Hero (Week of 8/2) Campers will enjoy creating their own super hero's name, costume, super powers and persona and will work on creating a comic strip featuring their character! Week 9: Wild, Wild, West (Week of 8/9) Campers will enjoy a yee-hawin' good time this week! Sack races, hay bale ropin' and camper round-ups are just a few things on the agenda! Afterschool Program Keep play in your child's day with our fun, affordable afterschool program fo children in grades K to 2 and 3 to 5.Includes homework help, swimming, classes with the RCCAC, gym games and youth center fun.
